Footnotes
SMART CODE raced up close three deep, challenged the top pair from outside on the turn, took over into the lane, cleared in upper stretch, challenged by GREGORY'S PRIDE in deep stretch, drifted out a bit and brushed with that rival and was able to hold on. GREGORY'S PRIDE raced between rivals at the back, went two wide into the turn, altered out at the five-sixteenths pole, swung five wide into the lane, rallied through the lane, drifted in and brushed with SMART CODE late and got denied. VALIANT SON pulled up on heels in the early going, continued on heels early on the turn, ridden along midway around the bend, chased three wide into the lane, drifted in while finishing willingly and earned the show honors. RHYTHEM ON STAGE tracked out of range outside a rival into the turn, checked behind VALIANT SON at the five-sixteenths pole, went two wide into the lane, brushed with inner rival while finding traffic in upper stretch, tipped out in the last sixteenth and improved position late. TAPALO stalked four deep early, moved into the three path on the turn, came four wide into the lane and lacked further response. EVERYDAYISSATURDAY chased from inside, coaxed along on the turn, lacked room in upper stretch, moved out into the clear and kept trying late. NAFTIS dueled from outside, between foes on the turn, yielded in upper stretch and weakened. KIMMER traveled three deep at the rear, moved out to the four path briefly on the turn then angled in, came two wide into the stretch and failed to rally. BELLY UP settled inside, waited through the turn, roused at the top of the stretch but got boxed in, then was not persevered with in the final furlong. THREE GEORGES fought for the lead inside NAFTIS up the backstretch, vied with outer pair around the bend, lost command approaching the stretch and gave way. THE TRAINER OF GREGORY'S PRIDE LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST SMART CODE FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE LATE IN THE RACE. THERE WAS ALSO A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE SAME MATTER. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE TWO RIVALS WAS MUTUEL AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
