ALMENDARES (GB) unhurried in the beginning and moved to the inside, shifted to the two path for the clubhouse turn, traveled outside a rival in the middle stages, closed in around the far turn, swung out for the stretch run, rallied five deep into the final furlong, fought four deep at the sixteenth and outkicked GENIUS JIMMY in the end. GENIUS JIMMY was closest in pursuit from the two path in the early stages, challenged between rivals with three furlongs remaining, put a head in front in upper stretch, resisted into the final strides and got nailed by the winner. SEAL TEAM (GB) reserved two then three wide early, crept closer in the middle stages, ranged up four deep at the quarter pole, fought between runners into deep stretch and got outkicked by the top pair. KING OF GOSFORD (GB) pulled along the inside early then came off the rail to the three path on the clubhouse turn, stalked outside the top pair up the backstretch, bid three deep into the far turn, fought between rivals to the sixteenth pole and lacked the needed late punch. SUMTER settled in the two path then crept closer while finding the rail on the clubhouse turn, followed in range into the far turn, drafted behind the leader around that bend, lacked room from upper to midstretch, then kept trying when gaining a clear path in the last sixteenth. TWIRLING POINT settled next to the fence, coaxed along in the middle stages, trailed into the stretch and showed a mild response to whittle the gap late. CAPTAIN CHOOCHIES grabbed the lead and steered to the inside, showed the way up the backstretch, took pressure from a pair of rivals into the far turn, clung to a short lead over outer trio turning for home, lost command shortly after and weakened in the late stages.
