Footnotes
SNEAKING CANDY stalked the top pair outside a rival, bid three deep on the far turn, seized control outside the eighth pole and edged clear in deep stretch. MOONLIT SONATA traveled a bit off the rail tracking out of range around the first turn, exited the backstretch three deep, came with a four wide move on the far turn, fought six deep into the final furlong and got up for second. BEE EYE GEE dueled from outside to the top of the lane, led briefly in upper stretch before being overtaken by SNEAKING CANDY, fought to the sixteenth pole and yielded late. KOKOSAN was moving around then threw his head right before the gates opened to come away slowly, traveled outside a rival then three deep on the clubhouse turn, crept closer two wide on the backstretch, gained further around the far turn while two to three wide, angled out and launched a bid in upper stretch but lacked the needed late punch. SAND BAGGER stalked the dueling leaders from the rail positions, waited behind the TRIBAL through the far turn, gained a clear path and challenged from the rail in upper stretch but failed to summon the necessary late kick. ROSTOVSKY was off slow to begin, followed in range next to the rail, moved off the fence a bit late on the far turn, came out at the eighth pole and could not rally. TRIBAL dueled from inside, carried a narrow lead to the top of the lane, relinquished the lead shortly after and weakened in the final furlong. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY CONCERNING THE START OF KOKOSAN. THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT HE CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS RIGHT BEFORE THE START AND IS CONSIDERED A STARTER.
