NAFTIS cleared from outside and crossed over, controlled the pace up the backstretch, ridden along midway around the far turn, came off the rail a bit into the lane, dug in under right then left handed urging and held GRANDISIMO at bay. GRANDISIMO stalked from inside then moved into the two path on the first turn, raced between runners into the far turn, loomed in the two path turning for home, chased determinedly through the drive but could not summon the needed late kick. BALLYHOOLIGAN reserved along the rail early, followed behind the leaders up the backstretch and far turn, chased within striking distance in the stretch but lacked late punch. TEE N OFF got crowded between runners going into the first turn, chased three deep leaving the backstretch, moved to the two path then spun three wide into the lane and kept trying for a minor award. LAST CALL PAUL stalked two then three wide outside a rival around the first turn, moved up outside the leader on the backstretch, went three deep into the far turn, continued three wide to the stretch and weakened. IRISH ELEMENT threw his head and broke a step slow, trailed on the inside and failed to menace.
