Footnotes
LIVING LIFE content to trail on the inside in the opening stages, picked up stride and went between rivals past the five-sixteenths pole, steered out into the stretch, seized control with a furlong remaining and drove clear in the last sixteenth. POOR CONNECTION raced up close between rivals then took a stalking position in the two path, coaxed along outside a rival then three deep on the far turn, got floated out a bit at the top of the lane, bid shortly after but was no match for the winner in the late stages. MYTHICAL REEL (IRE) showed early foot three deep then raced outside the leader first time through the stretch, was closest in pursuit around the clubhouse turn, drew alongside the leader again at the half-mile pole, put a head in front briefly in upper stretch but was quickly overtaken and was able to hold third. CRAZY CAVALIER tracked from inside out of striking distance of the pacesetter, saved ground through the far turn, tipped out in the lane and improved position. OUBABE settled in the two path, asked around the final turn while moving further off the rail, came five wide into the stretch and could not rally. CATCH THE BREEZE grabbed the early lead and controlled the pace on the inside, took pressure from MYTHICAL REEL (IRE) on the backstretch, resisted through the far turn, yielded in upper stretch and weakened. NONE ABOVE THE LAW stalked from inside, hugged the rail through the far turn, looked to launch a bid in upper stretch but took up when lacking room behind CATCH THE BREEZE and could not regain momentum once in the clear. THERE WAS INQUIRY INVOLVING THE INCIDENT WITH CATCH THE BREEZE AND NONE ABOVE THE LAW IN UPPER STRETCH. THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT NONE ABOVE THE LAW CAUSED HIS PROBLEMS BY RUNNING INTO A SPOT WITHOUT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
