UNRIVALED TIME broke a step slow, unhurried in the early going on the inside, moved out on the backstretch, picked up stride three then four deep around the far turn, closed into range with a furlong remaining, reeled in TRUMP ERA late and got up in time. TRUMP ERA stepped to the front and set the tone along the rail, took pressure on the backstretch, headed past the five-sixteenths pole, resisted into the last sixteenth, led into the final strides and got caught on the line. VENTRY STRAND laid well off the pace on the inside, went between rivals at the half-mile pole, waited in the two then three path on the far turn, steered out at the top of the lane, finished well from outside and edged THIRD BEER for the show honors. THIRD BEER traveled in mid-pack from the rail position, crept closer in the middle stages, moved into range on the far turn, angled off the fence at the eighth pole, rallied between runners but was outkicked for third. HE'S A KNOCKOUT hit the gate to come away last, raced keenly behind TRUMP ERA then angled to the outside, applied pressure to that rival on the backstretch, fought on even terms past the five-sixteenths pole, dueled to the sixteenth pole and lacked the need late kick. SCATALOTADINGDONG settled in the two path, remained two wide through the far turn, ran into traffic in upper stretch, altered in at the eighth pole and kept trying to the wire. JOHN METCALFE chased from inside off the pace early, moved into striking distance on the backstretch, traveled along the rail then eased over to the two path on the far turn, got crowded between foes midstretch and weakened. FIONELLO tracked in the two path out of range of the top pair early, drew closer in the middle stages, asked two then three wide on the far turn, altered from behind a rival in midstretch and lacked a rally. WAVE WITH ENVY laid off the pace on the inside, ridden along through the far turn, hugged the rail to the stretch and failed to menace. SMOOVIN SATURDAY lagged behind on the inside, saved ground to the stretch and never got involved.
