Footnotes
HARD TO FIGURE showed the way from inside, controlled the pace to the far turn, met a pair of bids past the three-eighths pole, disposed of those runners approaching the quarter pole, drew away into the final furlong, widened into deep stretch and was in hand late. MIGHTY KAI dropped off the pace in the two path, ridden along leaving the backstretch, went three then two wide around the bend, split foes in upper stretch and rallied for second. LEYAS CANDY was forwardly placed in the two path, put in a mild bid between rivals past the three-eighths pole, got turned away nearing the quarter pole, weakened in the lane but was able to save third. ROYAL 'N RANDO settled four deep early, continued well off the rail on the backstretch, moved into the three path on the far turn then came back past the quarter pole, kept trying down the lane and almost got by LEYAS CANDY for third. CATHAL (IRE) coaxed along in the three path on the first turn while dropping back, continued to be ridden along up the backstretch, trailed on the inside around the far turn and passed tired rivals. DURAN hopped a bit at the start to come away last, tracked from inside then moved into the two path on the first turn, steered out on the backstretch, asked four wide on the far turn and lacked the needed response. SHADY APPEAL raced up close three deep on the first turn, stalked up the backstretch, put in a mild bid three deep on the far turn but could not keep up approaching the quarter pole, then tired in the lane. BIG JUANITO bobbled a bit leaving the gate, tucked inside at the back, passed a trio of rivals on the first turn, drew closer in the middle stages, moved into range on the far turn along the inside or a bit off the rail and tired in the stretch.
