Footnotes
FREEDOM'S NOT FREE traveled in mid-pack in the early going, guided to the inside, moved out crossing the dirt, closed into range with a sixteenth remaining, then surged late and caught SUMTER at the wire. SUMTER settled outside FREEDOM'S NOT FREE, drew closer two then three wide on the turn, tipped out into the lane, surged to the front at the eighth pole, drifted to the inside, led clear into deep stretch under hand urging, flagged with the crop late and got nailed by the winner. FIRST PEACE followed in range of the speed, angled to the two path entering the turn then found the rail, crossed onto the dirt in the two path, chased three deep in upper stretch, angled in at the eighth pole, finished willingly and held third. ANMER HALL laid off the pace, went two wide into the turn, found the rail midway round the bend, steered off the fence and closed in under left handed urging but could not get by FIRST PEACE for the show honors. IRISH ROYALTY prominent early inside the leader then switched to the outside approaching the turn, challenged the pacesetter past the quarter pole, took over crossing the dirt, relinquished the lead to SUMTER at the eight pole and flattened late. LATER THAN PLANNED (IRE) stalked three wide into the turn, took aim four wide leaving the bend, challenged into the stretch but flattened out in the furlong grounds. INCANTO (IRE) unhurried in the early going outside a pair of rivals, angled to the inside on the turn, saved ground to the stretch and passed tired rivals. FRIENDLY CONFINES tracked from inside just out of range into the turn, crept closer around the bend, stayed inside to the stretch and weakened in the late stages. WAR AT SEA sat off the pace and angled to the inside, eased over to the two path around the bend, angled out further, got floated out at the eighth pole and failed to menace. NESSO'S LASTHARRAH stumbled badly leaving the gate, trailed two wide into the turn, chased outside a rival past the quarter pole, spun three wide into the lane and was never a factor. MODUS BESTIA stepped to the front and set the tone early, led along the rail then in the two path on the turn, challenged past the quarter pole, lost command crossing the dirt, yielded to the new leader at the top of the lane and retreated.
