Footnotes
DYNODAVE raced up close a bit off the rail then to the outside of the pacesetter, challenged from outside around the far turn, fought on even terms turning for home, grabbed the lead in upper stretch, put SARK away at the eighth pole while coming under threat from a pair of rivals, showed the way into the final sixteenth and held gamely. PROMISSIO stalked in the two path, asked three wide on the far turn, took aim three deep through the final furlong, lacked the needed late punch but was able to edge AMERICAN GLORY (GB) for the place honors. AMERICAN GLORY (GB) reserved along the inside in the opening stages, moved into range on the backstretch, drafted behind the top pair around the far turn, took aim between foes down the stretch, finished determinedly but got edged for second. EMPIRE'S CLASSIC broke a step slow, moved to the inside trailing the field, steered outside rivals in the middle stages, got bumped three deep at the five-sixteenths pole, tipped out for the drive, finished willingly but could not summon the needed final kick. DEALERS SPECIAL broke a step slow, settled inside, got put in tight on the first turn, moved into range around the second bend, lacked room in upper stretch, moved to a clear path and kept on to the wire. SARK set the pace from inside, confronted by DYNODAVE on the far turn, relinquished the lead in upper stretch and weakened in the late stages. SPEARFISH settled in the two path, steady off heels from the half-mile pole to the seven-sixteenths marker, bumped between rivals at the five-sixteenths pole then got crowded shortly after and could not rally in the lane.
