DESERT KAT broke alertly and took early command, was engaged by BATTLE SCHOOL into the turn and set a prompted pace to the quarter marker, came off of the rail while leading into upper stretch, dug in into the final sixteenth and gamely held off the runner-up in the late stages. BATTLE SCHOOL was forwardly placed early on while under a snug hold, went up to prompt the pace outside of DESERT KAT heading into the turn, attended to the moderate pace nearing the quarter marker, got floated to the four to five path into the drive while trying to get by DESERT KAT, was kept at bay by the determined winner into the final sixteenth but was well clear of the rest for second. MY MAN JOE ROLDAN unhurried early and trailed to the turn, advanced along the inside approaching the top of the lane, shifted to the two path and mounted a mild rally between foes in the drive, was no match late for the top pair but kept on for third. CRUCIBLE forwardly placed in the early running, tucked to the rail and was well placed while saving ground into the turn, kept an inside path to the stretch, lacked the needed response at the furlong marker, couldn't keep pace with the top pair heading to the final sixteenth and was outkicked for third. BAKO COUNTRY settled in the second flight, chased the leading pair two wide along the turn, ran in pursuit from the three path into the lane, couldn't find more to the final furlong and gave way. HARBOR CODE bobbled a bit at the start, rushed up along the inside in the early going then was caught in tight at the nine-sixteenths, shifted out into the turn and ran in pursuit three wide approaching the quarter marker, swung to the five path into upper stretch then lacked a late response and weakened. KIDDO LIGHT hopped slightly at the start and was away a step slowly, settled along the outside heading into the turn, swung widest for the stretch drive and failed to threaten late.
