SOUTHERN MELODEE vied inside a pair of rivals to the five-sixteenths pole, held a short lead over outer rival late on the bend, maintained command with rivals on both sides in upper stretch, fought with TOMMY NORRIS in the final furlong and gamely prevailed. TOMMY NORRIS raced up close behind the top trio, waited on the inside to the quarter pole, roused late on the bend, challenged inside the top pair in upper stretch, hounded SOUTHERN MELODEE into deep stretch and could not get by. CRUISE HOME lacked early speed, passed a rival in the two path on the turn, angled out into the lane, closed fast in the late stages but ran out of ground. ORACLE OF PARADISE vied three deep to the turn, kept the pressure on SOTHERN MELODEE around the bend, fought three deep once again in upper stretch but weakened in the furlong grounds. TAMARANDO BEACH had to steady when losing a clear path early, chased off the rail in the early going, took the turn three then four wide and finished evenly down the lane. FOREVER BEN stumbled leaving the gate, recovered and fought between rivals for command, yielded to the top pair midway around the bend and weakened in the stretch. MY BODACIOUS BOY coaxed along well off the pace early, moved inside for the turn, fell back to last around the bend, angled out at the top of the lane and passed a tired rival. TIGGRRR WHITWORTH chased just out of range off the rail, lost ground two to three wide around the bend and came up empty in the drive.
