Footnotes
EXPLORA chased three deep to the five-sixteenths pole, confronted HIMIKA with a quarter mile remaining, put that rival away at the top of the stretch and drew off under left-handed urging and steady handling in the final furlong. LA WALLY tracked two wide around the first turn, tipped to the three path and came under a ride on the far turn, could not threaten the winner in the stretch run but was able to outkick LA VILLE LUMIERRE for the place honors. LA VILLE LUMIERE stalked from along the rail, was ridden along through the far turn, chased two wide into lane, failed to produce a bid and lost the duel for second. BANZAI BETTY lagged behind to the far turn, had one rival beat coming into the stretch and passed another tired rival in the lane to earn a minor award. HIMIKA fought for the lead inside HEAVEN'S BOLT into the first turn, took control around the bend, pressured again by that rival up the backstretch, cleared with three furlongs remaining, challenged by EXPLORA at the quarter pole, lost command late on the bend and retreated. HEAVEN'S BOLT showed early speed outside HIMIKA then took a stalking position in the two path on the clubhouse turn, moved up to challenge from outside in the middle stages, lost touch with HIMIKA at the three-eighths pole, tired on the far turn, was eased and guided out wide, then eventually crossed the finish line and walked off.
