FIRMUS raced up close three then two wide, applied pressure from outside in the middle stages, headed the leader midway around the far turn, put DEL MAR JERRY away late on the bend, drifted out a bit while feeling WESTWOOD bearing down from outside and remained strong to the wire. WESTWOOD raced in range in the two path around the first turn, moved out on the backstretch, took aim three wide around the far turn, bid from outside in the lane, bothered by the winner at the sixteenth pole and stayed on to prove second best. MINING DISTRICT stalked from inside, came under a ride at the three-eighths pole, tipped out into the lane and finished evenly late. DEL MAR JERRY stepped to the front in the two path then found the rail on the clubhouse turn, took pressure on the backstretch, headed by FIRMUS at the five-sixteenths pole, yielded late on the far turn and weakened in the furlong grounds. CLOONEY trailed two wide then along the rail early, moved off the fence around the far turn and came three wide into the lane but failed to make an impact.
