MAGIC TIME was closest in pursuit in the two path early, challenged the leader at the quarter pole, seized control and cleared in upper stretch under mild urging, then drew away under taps from a downturned crop in the furlong grounds. BLIKSEM was fractious in the gate, broke alertly and took control, showed the way along the inside to the far turn, challenged by MAGIC TIME at the quarter pole, yielded to that rival in upper stretch and stayed on to hold second. CHARACTER raced up close along the rail, crept closer on the far turn, failed to summon the needed response in the lane but was able to keep on for the show honors. FEDERATION stumbled leaving the gate, settled in the two path, moved inside on the backstretch, driven two wide into the lane, angled out and earned a minor award. ABSOLUTION tracked two wide to the far turn, found the rail around the bend, tipped out in the lane and weakened. MACKINAW stalked three deep around the first turn, outside a rival in the middle stages, asked two then three wide around the far turn and weakened. CURLIN TORNADO was off slow from inside, trailed two then three wide on the first turn, moved out further on the backstretch, raced three deep towards the back into the far turn, fell back to last then took up and was guided outward behind a trouble rival at the quarter pole, eased to the wire and walked off. VIREVOLTE broke a step slow and bumped outer rival leaving the gate, angled to the inside, trailed up the backstretch, passed a rival on the far turn, bolted and lost the rider at the quarter pole, remained in the same general area before being apprehended and walked off. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE INCIDENT WITH VIREVOLTE AT THE QUARTER POLE AND THE STEWARDS RULED THAT HE CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS AND WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
