PROOF HE RIDES was closest in pursuit from the two path, challenged the leader in upper stretch, put a head in front with a sixteenth remaining and inched away. YACOWLEF (IRE) tracked four wide into the turn, moved into the three path around the bend, came with a late run and got up for second. BALLYVAUGHAN GIG sprinted clear and crossed over, showed the way along the inside down the hill, challenged by PROOF HE RIDES at the top of the lane, resisted to the sixteenth pole, then yielded to the winner and lost second in the closing moments. KATONAH sat off the pace five deep in the early going, angled to the three path around the bend, steered back out approaching the stretch, summoned a mild rally and rounded out the superfecta. HOTROCKET (IRE) also settled off the pace, went three then two wide on the turn, steered out at the top of the stretch and offered a mild response when called upon. WINNING PATRIOT laid off the pace in the early going, raced outside a rival into the turn, shifted in and bothered that rival early on the bend, saved ground to the stretch and lacked a rally. MESCALERO was fractious in the gate, stalked three wide into the turn, moved out to the four path around the bend and failed to produce a bid. LEGITIMATE tracked from the two path, between rivals leaving the bend, lost a clear path at the top of the lane and could not rally after. SNEAKING CANDY chased from inside to the stretch and faded out of contention. I'MGONNABESOMEBODY was moving right before the start then stumbled a bit leaving the gate, trailed on the inside approaching the turn, altered out from behind a trouble rival early on the bend, moved out further in the lane and could not rally. MUCHO DEL ORO was fractious in the gate, chased four then five wide down the hill and weakened in the drive. ANMER HALL tracked from inside, got crowded by WINNING PATRIOT and hit the rail early on the turn, eased out of the race with a quarter mile remaining, pulled up near the eighth pole and walked off. THERE WAS INQUIRY INVOLVING WINNING PATRIOT AND ANMER HALL EARLY ON THE TURN. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
