Footnotes
PASS THE HAT stalked the pace on the outside in the two to three path, made a bid on the far turn, responded well when asked at the quarter-pole, battled outside of ZULU KINGDOM under a drive in upper stretch, fought between horses into the final sixteenth, drifted out some late, dueled gamely with the runner-up to the finish and narrowly prevailed under strong urging. CAPITOL HILL dropped back early, raced in the two path on the first turn, settled well off the pace, moved much closer with a half-mile to run, was roused in the two path on the far turn, rallied in the three path into the stretch, closed strongly to make a bid at the furlong marker, fought outside of two opponents into the final sixteenth, dueled with the winner to the finish and just missed while clear for the place. ZULU KINGDOM (IRE) established the front from the start, showed the way while inside to the two path, was given his cue near the quarter-pole then came under a drive in upper stretch, battled inside of two foes into the final furlong, lost the advantage coming to the sixteenth-pole and was outfinished while clear for third. SALAMIS was a bit hard to load then fractious in the gate, moved in at the rear of the field early, saved ground on the first turn, settled at the back, raced inside on the far turn, was roused inside the five-sixteenths pole, turned into the stretch in the two path and lacked the needed response. RIDARI (FR) was taken in hand early then tugged keenly on the bit while inside through the first turn, was reserved off the pace, moved much closer with a half-mile to run, saved ground on the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole and came up empty.
