TO A FLAME established a forward position early, raced in the two path on the first turn, was rated just off the pace, drafted inside while behind the leader on the far turn, waited a touch into the stretch then shifted to the three path, rallied outside into the final furlong, closed powerfully to get the lead just inside the sixteenth-pole and prevailed under good handling. PILLAR OF BEAUTY came away in good order, rounded the first turn in the three path, stalked the pace on the outside of the leader while inside of I LOVE GIRAFFES, brushed with that foe near the half-mile pole, made a bid with three furlongs to run, vied in the two path on the far turn, was bumped in the hindquarters and had I LOVE GIRAFFES clip her heels outside the quarter-pole, came under a drive in upper stretch, gained a short lead near the furlong marker, led into the final sixteenth but was overtaken while clear for the place. CODE raced in the three path on the first turn, settled off the pace, went around the far turn in the three path, slipped past the spill without incident into the stretch, pursued the top two in the drive and lacked the needed kick while just able to get the show.
