Footnotes
TO A FLAME established a forward position early, raced in the two path on the first turn, was rated just off the pace, drafted inside while behind the leader on the far turn, waited a touch into the stretch then shifted to the three path, rallied outside into the final furlong, closed powerfully to get the lead just inside the sixteenth-pole and prevailed under good handling. PILLAR OF BEAUTY came away in good order, rounded the first turn in the three path, stalked the pace on the outside of the leader while inside of I LOVE GIRAFFES, brushed with that foe near the half-mile pole, made a bid with three furlongs to run, vied in the two path on the far turn, was bumped in the hindquarters and had I LOVE GIRAFFES clip her heels outside the quarter-pole, came under a drive in upper stretch, gained a short lead near the furlong marker, led into the final sixteenth but was overtaken while clear for the place. CODE raced in the three path on the first turn, settled off the pace, went around the far turn in the three path, slipped past the spill without incident into the stretch, pursued the top two in the drive and lacked the needed kick while just able to get the show. CANDY MOONSHINE broke in and bumped with a rival, went to the front, showed the way on the inside while in hand, was asked coming to the quarter-pole then came under a drive in upper stretch, lost the advantage to the runner-up near the furlong marker and weakened then just lost the show. SCRATCH IT leapt along the hedge while in tight on the first turn then checked, was reserved near the back, steadied while green with three furlongs to run, saved ground into the stretch and was no factor. ALONE TIME bumped with a rival at the start, clipped heels in the two path on the first turn and was taken up, tugged keenly on the bit early on the backstretch, steadied with three furlongs to run, rounded the far turn two path to the inside, slipped through inside of the spill at the quarter-pole while taken in hand some, moved out in upper stretch and failed to threaten. SMEXY (IRE) checked sharply in the two path behind troubled foes on the first turn then came outward, raced at the rear, went around the far turn in the two path, collided with a fallen foe nearing the quarter-pole then fell and was walked off after being apprehended by the outrider. LOVELY GREY brushed the outside of the gate at the start, was taken under tight restraint, tugged on the bit in the three path on the first turn, was taken in hand outside troubled foes on that bend, moved in under a stout hold early on the backstretch then advanced closer, shifted from the hedge to the three path on the far turn, moved in good striking range in the process, collided with a fallen foe coming to the quarter-pole and fell then was transported off the track via equine ambulance after walking on the van. PARIS CARVER was taken up behind a foe while inside on the first turn, tugged keenly on the bit early on the backstretch, was reserved of the pace, went around the far turn in the three then four path while let out, collided with a fallen foe approaching the quarter-pole and fell then was walked off after being caught by an outrider. I LOVE GIRAFFES broke a step slow, raced in the four path on the first turn, was rated on the outside without cover, brushed with PILLAR OF BEAUTY near the half-mile pole, came under urging in the three path on the far turn, bumped with the hindquarters of PILLAR OF BEAUTY then clipped heels with her left foreleg outside the quarter-pole and fell then was walked off after being caught by an outrider. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT NEAR THE QUARTER-POLE, NO CHANGE WAS MADE TO THE ORDER OF FINISH
