GATSBY came out under hustling just after the start two to three paths carrying out FACTUALLY CORRECT to put the squeeze on BURNINHUNKOFLOVE, BIG HAT WILLIE, and STEWIE in tandem with pressure from RED STATE who came inwards after the start, established the front and showed the way in hand four then three paths off the rail down the backstretch before tucking to the two path through the turn coming under urging with five-sixteenths to go under threat from RED STATE to the outside, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, got headed for the front with three-sixteenths to go, dug in gamely to come again and take back the front inside the eighth pole, then inched away in the late stages to prevail. RED STATE came in after the start placing three rivals in tight and causing pressure that squeezed out BURNINHUNKOFLOVE in concert with pressure inside from the aforementioned foe, pressed five then four paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn coming under urging near the quarter pole, continued three wide into upper stretch, seized command with three-sixteenths to go, dug in head to head and was displaced from command inside the eighth pole, fought on latched on to the finish. FACTUALLY CORRECT got carried out after the break two to three paths, chased five paths off the rail down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn coming under urging with seven-sixteenths to go, swung five wide into upper stretch, ran on to secure the show honors. BURNINHUNKOFLOVE got steadied when squeezed out between foes just after the start and conceded two additional lengths to the front then the original two lengths at the break, chased three then two wide under urging from the three-eighths pole, went eight wide into upper stretch and weakened. TIMAEUS briefly was in hand as RED STATE tucked in front just after the start but escaped being put in tight, chased five then four wide under a ride from the seven-sixteenths marker, went nine wide into upper stretch and tired. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the start and just after the start focusing on GATSBY. After review, the result was allowed to stand prior to the race being declared official.
