STURDY was hustled from the gate, raced in the three path on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, turned up the pressure on the leader in the three path on the far turn, took over under his own control outside the quarter-pole, kicked clear when set down in upper stretch then came under a left-handed crop and drew away under strong urging to prove much the best. AMERICAN GRANT saved ground on the first turn, settled just off the pace, dropped back under urging leaving the backstretch, moved from the rail to the two path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the three path and safely secured the place while no match for the winner. MCDIESEL broke very fast and went straight to the front, raced a bit off the rail on the first turn, showed the way down the backstretch, was asked under threat while along the rail on the far turn, lost the advantage to the winner outside the quarter-pole, dropped back in upper stretch and tired. CURVINO broke out at the start, moved in early, went around the first turn in the two path, settled off the pace, dropped back leaving the backstretch, retreated in the three path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the four path and failed to respond. NATURAL HUNK dropped to the rear, rounded the first turn in the three path, settled at the rear on the outside, fell further behind in the four path on the far turn, came into the stretch in the five path and was eased but walked off.
