Footnotes
COUNTING STARS established the front from the get go and showed the way in hand just off the inside through the first turn and then three paths off the rail down the backstretch settled into a comfortable rhythm, remained on hold showing the way tucked back to the two path through the far turn and had ALWAYS A RUNNER advance along the open rail nearing the quarter pole, spun three wide into upper stretch placed to light urging, got bumped by ALWAYS A RUNNER coming out inside the three-sixteenths marker and was roused at that juncture, shook off her main rival inside the eighth pole and edged clear under a drive to the finish to score. ALWAYS A RUNNER raced just off the inside through the first turn and placed DANDONA in a bit tight along the rail near seven and a half furlongs to run when coming inwards slightly, chased just off the inside from just off the leader, tucked inside half a mile from home into the pocket and remained in hand until put to coaxing with five-sixteenths remaining, advanced and latched on the leader spinning just off the inside into upper stretch, came under a left handed crop and came outwards bumping COUNTING STARS just inside the three-sixteenths pole, then got shaken off inside the eighth pole proving no match for the top one late while along clear for the place honors. MEASURE raced along the inside through the first turn and then just off the inside down the backstretch, tipped three wide into the far turn and continued outwards to be four wide when put to encouragement three furlongs from home, cornered four wide into upper stretch offering up a bid to collar ZANY, then kept on to the wire to be along clear for the show honors. ZANY forwardly placed three then two wide through the first turn, raced four then three wide in closest aim of the leader coming under urging with five-sixteenths to run, swung three wide at the top of the stretch, weakened in the late stages. MISS FULTON GAL hopped the tracks left from photographers the first time under the wire just after the break, raced just off the inside into the first turn and got forced to alter out when DANDONA grew rank directly in front and carried out NYCON to the four path with seven and a half furlongs to go, chased three paths off the rail down the backstretch and then just off the inside through the far turn coaxed along from the half mile pole, cornered just off the inside into upper stretch and tired. NYCON broke out a step at the start, raced three wide into the first turn and was forced to alter out four wide briefly when MISS FULTON GAL went three wide as DANDONA grew rank in front, tucked three then two wide into the backstretch, came under a ride half a mile from home and angled three to four wide into upper stretch, then tired through to the finish. DANDONA stumbled at the break and recovered outwards a step, raced along the inside and grew rank under restraint and was forced to check when balking inside of ALWAYS A RUNNER in slightly tight along the rail, forced a pair of rivals to alter out when she altered to the two path just outside seven and a half furlongs remaining, chased four to five wide down the backstretch and through the far turn, went seven to eight wide into upper stretch under a protective hold and was eased home to the wire.
