Footnotes
BOSUN settled on the outside, was roused in the three then four path on the turn, rallied outside into the final furlong, closed well to make a bid outside the sixteenth-pole, drifted in under a right-handed crop shortly thereafter and got up under strong urging to prevail. ORTLEY AVENUE (IRE) was a bit reluctant to load, moved in while showing speed then disputed the pace on the outside, moved to a solo advantage at the seven-sixteenths pole, dropped from the two path to the inside on the turn, was asked for his best in upper stretch, led under a drive into the final sixteenth then swapped back to his inside lead and was caught while just able to get the place. BRIGHTLINE BULLET leaned out at the start and was last to commence, settled towards the rear, saved ground on the turn, was roused outside the quarter-pole, turned into upper stretch under the crop, moved to the two path inside the three-sixteenths pole, rallied into the final furlong, closed well coming to the sixteenth-pole, paused in traffic at that juncture and showed good courage to just miss the place while able to get the show. MISSION IMPROBABLE clipped heels after the start then was taken up and dropped back, moved in while well behind the rest of the field, shifted from the inside to the two path late on the turn, spun into the stretch in the three path then quickly angled out, reached about the eighth path near the furlong marker and improved with good energy for the last spot in the superfecta. AFTER TAXES (IRE) bobbled at the start but broke towards the front, chased the pace down the backstretch, saved ground on the turn, pursued the leader under a drive in the stretch and lacked the needed kick. SHIRL'S SOUL TOWN broke out and hit the gate, was well placed towards the front, came under urging in the three path on the turn, paused behind horses coming to the quarter-pole, moved out under a drive in upper stretch and lacked the needed kick. GRUNGE was hustled from the gate then urged along on the outside, went around the turn in the three path, chased the leader under a drive into the final sixteenth, was carried in some at that juncture and weakened. INTO DIAMONDS was urged on the outside with cover, moved out from cover around the half-mile pole, rounded the turn in the three path, spun into the stretch in the four path then moved further out and failed to rally. PAIR OF SOCKS was hustled from the gate then urged along towards the rear, saved ground on the turn, moved out around the furlong marker and failed to threaten. BOSTONTONIAN pressed the pace on the inside of the runner-up while in hand, dropped back at the seven-sixteenths pole, was let out while shifting from the two path to the three path early on the turn, dropped back into upper stretch and came up empty.
