Footnotes
SURVIE (IRE) settled just off the inside at the tail of the field under a light rating hold, had ANCIENT EGYPT nudge his way out midway on the second turn and was briefly three wide through part of that turn into the backstretch before tucking back to the two path once straightened away, remained patiently handled through the far turn until given a notch to work with and then was placed to coaxing just outside the quarter pole, angled six wide into upper stretch, rallied with a good kick inside the final furlong surging past the top pair seventy yards from the finish to prevail edging away at the end. MINARET STATION attended the leader from the two path through dawdling splits on hold until the field got busy midway on the far turn, got set down angled four wide into upper stretch, seized command straightened away, dug in head to head with PROGRAM TRADING, that rival leaning in on him, got shown a left handed crop near the sixteenth pole and shied out and herded that rival out a path just when getting overthrown from the front, ran on to preserve the place honors on the wire. PROGRAM TRADING (GB) settled tracking the front under rating two then three wide with six and a half furlongs to go, remained patiently handled until roused angled five wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive getting on near even terms for command a furlong out, leaned on MINARET STATION until that rival shied out under a left handed crop and was herded out a path a sixteenth from home, then ran on to the finish to procure the show honors. ANCIENT EGYPT (IRE) coaxed away from the gate briefly, settled tracking along the inside through the first turn and past the stands the initial time, tipped to the two path six and a half furlongs from home nudging SURVIE three wide at that station, went briefly three wide through the remainder of that turn and into the backstretch, tucked to the two path through the far and final turn and came under urging with two and a half furlongs to run, angled seven wide into upper stretch, offered up a bid a furlong out, then flattened out in the late stages. TAWNY PORT was under a rating hold tracking the leader along the inside from the pocket, came under coaxing three furlongs out losing some position, angled five wide into upper stretch, weakened in the final furlong. OLE CRAZY BONE showed the way rated along the inside through sensible and dawdling splits, remained on hold awaiting a challenge and got one when placed to urging three furlongs from home, spun two to three wide into upper stretch under threat to the outside, yielded the front straightened away for home, dug in prominent to the eighth pole, then weakened in the late going.
