Footnotes
HYMN brushed the near side stall at the start, prompted the pace of TIP TOP THOMAS from the outside three then two wide coming under coaxing near the quarter pole, tipped four wide into upper stretch, took over command just inside the three-sixteenths pole, inched away briefly, then dug in under late threat from a trio and gamely held sway to score. T KRAFT chased two to three paths off the inside down the backstretch before tucking inside through the turn coming under coaxing with five-sixteenths to go, angled four wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive and was up to share in the place and show honors while repelled by the top one to the finish. SENIOR OFFICER coaxed from the start, chased four paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three wide through the turn coming under encouragement three furlongs from home, angled five to six wide at the head of the stretch, offered up a mild kick to share in the place and show honors but was rebuffed to the wire by the top one. CRAZY MASON chased three paths off the rail detached at the tail of the field down the backstretch, tucked to the two path into the turn and came under urging with seven-sixteenths to go, made headway and went seven wide into upper stretch, kicked on belatedly to latch on the top trio in the final strides to the wire. TIP TOP THOMAS coaxed from the gate, established the front soon after and showed the way in hand just off the inside down the backstretch under some pressure from HYMN to the outside, tucked inside through the turn and came under coaxing near the quarter pole, spun three wide into upper stretch under threat, yielded the front just inside three-sixteenths to go, dug in fighting on to the sixteenth marker, then weakened in the late stages. BRING THE SMOKE bobbled at the break, chased five paths off the inside down the backstretch, tucked four then three wide through the turn under urging from the seven-sixteenths marker, faded and went four to five wide into upper stretch, faltered, and was eased home through the final furlong to the end.
