Footnotes
BOURBON STATE settled in behind the leaders along the rail switching out off the fence on the first turn, stalked the pace from off the rail, was put to urging in upper stretch, had room between foes nearing the sixteenth pole making a bid, dueled late and dug in to get the nod. IF I WERE YOU shifted in early, stalked the leaders saving ground on the far turn, bid inside past mid-stretch, dueled late but was outfinished and just missed. STONE COLD FLEX bumped a foe after the start, was forced wide into the first turn racing outside foes five to six deep, stalked from outside up the backstretch, took slightly closer order on the far turn four to five wide in range of the leader, was under urging by the quarter pole having lost a little ground, finished well to gain mildly on the top ones but was not enough. FINAL DRAMA quickly moved clear and shifted in to the two path, set the pace, was headed at the half, fought back to retake a narrow lead then was headed again past the three-eighths, dueled around the far turn, put away the sparring partner to be in command in the stretch, was overtaken by inside foes past the sixteenth pole and outfinished. ZEE FIRE had forward position stalking the leaders three to four wide in hand, moved out and advanced some on the far turn travelling five to six deep outside rivals and in contention passing the quarter pole, lost some ground on the leaders leaving that bend, kept on late but needed more. MR. SWEETS was bumped lightly after the start, raced close up but caught four to five wide on the first turn, pressed up the backstretch, bid putting a short and brief head in front at the half then again in earnest at the three-eighths dueling around the far turn, weakened in late stretch. GARRINCHA settled at the rear switching out off the inside on the first turn, swung seven to eight wide into upper stretch, was never near enough to threaten. NO MANCHES was forced out four to five wide by a rival entering the first turn, raced in the back group, was never near enough to threaten. PERFORMANCE PLUS forced a rival out while racing three to four wide on the first turn well back off the leaders, failed to menace. DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY was off the inside part of the track and never close enough to threaten.
