Footnotes
MR. PENNY PINCHER moved to the fore past the gap after the opening three-sixteenths to set the tempo up the backstretch from inside, was challenged and encouraged along passing the five-sixteenths, turned away that rival kicking clear in upper stretch, held safe. ICELANDER switched out off the inside early trailing from outside up the backstretch, advanced on the turn three to four wide under encouragement past the five-sixteenths, came into upper stretch six deep, kept on but was only second best. IMPACTO stalked from outside, moved closer to press on the turn, was urged along past the five-sixteenths, made a brief mild bid near the quarter pole but was promptly rebuffed, continued to chase the winner through the stretch but was no match and lost place late. TAPIRS VALOR settled off the pace, raced inside into the turn coming out off the fence on that bend, swung seven deep into upper stretch, was never a threat. SKYLOFT had a brief early lead then pressed the new leader two to three wide, dropped back between foes and chased from off the rail on the turn, failed to rally. SAM STORMY was encouraged along three furlongs out but made no bid.
