Footnotes
QUISTMER vied for the early lead leaving the gate, crossed over leaving the chute and set the pace to the first turn, carved out moderate fractions into the backstretch, led to the quarter pole then held foes at bay into upper stretch, drew clear at the furlong pole then kept to task in deep stretch. MAGIC HEART got caught in tight and checked between rivals leaving the chute, settled mid-pack into the backstretch, bid three wide to the far turn, chased four wide into the stretch, could not impact the winner into the final sixteenth and closed in time for second. THAT SUN OF A GUN settled in the second flight early on, saved ground into the backstretch and was well placed approaching the far turn, tipped two wide to upper stretch and rallied between rivals into the final furlong, closed well in the late stages and missed for second, while getting up in time for third. ENDLESS REIGN settled to the first turn, was well placed while two to three wide along the backstretch run, advanced nearing the quarter marker then swung five wide for the stretch drive, closed willingly in the late stages and just missed for third. FERAL'S JOY raced close up in the early stages, stalked three wide into the backstretch run, ran in pursuit of QUISTMER while two wide nearing the quarter marker, was outkicked into the stretch and yielded in the late stages. BLESS AMERICA was forwardly placed early, tracked from the inside into the backstretch, saved ground while in pursuit nearing the quarter pole, chased into the stretch and weakened in the final stages. LAKE CHAPALA broke a step slowly and was allowed to settle, saved all of the ground to the far turn, chased from the inside into upper stretch and did not rally late. DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY was unhurried to the backstretch, trailed to the far turn, saved ground into the lane and did not factor late. SURPRISE PACKAGE raced close up to the early pace while between rivals, tracked the pace two wide and between foes into the backstretch, lost position along the far turn then came up empty in the stretch drive. THE JOCKEYS ON MAGIC HEART AND FERAL'S JOY LODGED OBJECTIONS AGAINST THE RIDER OF QUISTMER, CLAIMING INTERFERENCE WHEN LEAVING THE CHUTE AND ENTERING THE MAIN COURSE THE FIRST TIME BY THE WIRE. THE STEWARDS DISALLOWED THOSE OBJECTIONS AND RULED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
