Footnotes
SUGOI prompted two wide, vied down the backstretch, forged an advantage turning for home, dug in as an outer SHANKAR challenged at the sixteenth pole, battled gamely and narrowly held. SHANKAR took contact from an outer rival at the start, stalked near the inside, paused behind the leaders while aiming two wide and between horses at the quarter pole, pursued tipping to the three path in upper stretch, ranged up to bid at the sixteenth pole, dueled late but missed at the wire. COPPER MISSILE saved ground well back, rallied two wide and between horses into the final furlong and edged show from outer rivals late. PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL pulled between horses early on, stalked in the three path, chased between horses around the far turn, floated to the four path in upper stretch, kept on to vie for show late but got outfinished. THE HIDDEN CHAMBER pursued from midpack in the two to three path, chased between horses and missed fourth. OBELISK laid off of the pace in the two path, four to five path around the far turn, fanned to the seven path into the lane and moved up. HILLIARD lacked speed two wide and between horses, shifted out and failed to factor. MOUNT HOREB tracked four deep, chased in the five path into the lane and faded. MIDNITE IN FINLEY set the pace inside of the eventual winner, got headed turning for home then weakened in upper stretch. WARLANDER bobbled and bumped an inner rival at the start, raced off of the pace along the inside, shifted out entering the lane and failed to factor. MODICA raced at the rear in the three to four path, six path and between horses into the lane and made little impact.
