GAGLIARDI broke a little awkwardly to the inside putting the inner rival in tight, recovered quckly and hustled to the front, then was left alone to dictate moderate fractions to the far turn with the field spread out behind, was always traveling well, came into the stretch still clear of the rest, responded when roused and held clear to the finish under steady handlng and intermittent left and right handed urging. ASKARI came away well, then got in a bit tight midway on the first turn, settled into third position turning onto the backstretch, was inside into the far turn, waited for racing room, tipped out to the two-path for the stretch run, finished well, but could not get to the winner. FIRST OF HIS NAME raced a bit off the early pace in the three-path, moved up through the turn, launched a bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, loomed a threat at the top of the stretch, but flattened out a bit, holding position to the wire. OCEAN VICTORY got squeezed at the start, steadied, then raced well off the pace in the back half of the field early on, responded when asked to go on heading into the far turn, finished with interest, was mildly gaining but was not quite doing enough in the late stages. GERALDRAYDAPLEGRAY got inside position mid-pack, saved ground throughout, but lacked the needed response in the stretch. DREAMING BRO got caught three-wide through the first turn but determined to get a forward position, settled in behind GAGLIARDI for the first half-mile, then lacked a finish. NON FUNGIBLE got pinched back at the start, raced from well behind, and was never a factor. GARDEN LEAVE broke off-balance and ducked in, was a bit rank and hard to place going into the clubhouse turn, backed off and took a position near the rear, made a mild bid going three-to-four wide on the last turn, but had nothing left in the stretch.
