Footnotes
ALL JOKES ASIDE stalked the early pace from the inside while on hold, shifted to the two path nearing the quarter marker, given his cue at the top of the lane, took command into the final furlong, kept to task while on the left lead and proved best late. HOLDING THE LINE (IRE) showed speed and assumed early command, dictated terms into the turn while two wide, shifted to the inside nearing the quarter marker, led to upper stretch then was overtaken at the furlong marker, was outkicked in the final sixteenth and held clearly for second. PENROD settled outside of rivals in the early going, coaxed three to four wide to the turn, chased the leading pair to mid-stretch, could not muster the needed late response but held well at the wire for third. STARGAZZERS DREAM well placed in the early stages, tracked the leading pair three wide into the turn, got caught a bit in tight to upper stretch and angled four wide for the stretch drive, lacked a late rally and just missed for third. LONG SHORTS forwardly placed in the early going, tracked the moderate pace two wide to the turn, chased to the quarter marker then ran in pursuit from the rail to upper stretch, could not find more into the final furlong and weakened in the drive. LOOKING GOOD LEWIS threw his head at the start and was last away from the gate, settled while saving ground to the turn, raced in tight nearing the quarter marker, shifted to the two path to upper stretch then remained caught in traffic approaching mid-stretch, found room between foes into the final furlong but could not find the needed response.
