Footnotes
ELGIN PARK was in tight being brushed inside on the break for a stride or two, nevertheless, shot through for the early advantage in the beginning, contently relinquished the lead while hounding the frontrunner outside travelling well waiting for the cue around the turn, moved in two wide at the head of the stretch, powered past seizing control leaving the eighth pole and held safe at the wire for the score. FRANKNESS was pushed outwards on the start, moved well under a snug hold tracking the engaged lead pair along the backside, crept up shifting out off the rail midway around the turn, came with a good run five wide in upper stretch, did not switch leads until late and kept on fighting to the finish line to be a clear second best. UP N THE ANTE was off a step slow to begin, quickly rolled along on the rail to take the lead by the half, continued to set the pace while unable to shake off the eventual winner outside throughout the turn, still was battling on holding a slim lead inside at the top of the lane, relinquished the top spot exiting the furlong marker and faded in the late going just lasting for the show money from a fast closing outside rival at the finish line. MALTESE WARRIOR was a little sluggish in the beginning, took a stalking role down the backside near the rear, began to uncork a rally picking up an inside rival at the five sixteenths pole, gathered more momentum three wide swinging for the drive to the finish line and offered a good late finish just missing the surge at the wire for the third place share. MR. PERFECT broke outwards on the start, had a tracking role watching the front three while in the four-path down the backside, came under a ride holding position while going four wide throughout the turn, shifted to the five-path running greenly in and out switching leads a few times down the lane and could not play a factor in the late running. BETTERMUSTCOME was allowed to settle at the rear in the early stages, travelled well off the fence making little gain still at the back around the oval, moved to the six-path entering the stretch but could only manage to pass a weary foe in the final furlong. DAVE'S LEGACY broke outwards on the start, settled in midfield with runners on each side down the backstretch, saved all the ground but was dropping back through the turn and could not make his presence felt just off the rail in the stretch drive.
