Footnotes
HEAVEN'S CHAMPION broke with the field but was allowed to find his stride trailing the contested pace with a half mile remaining, began to pick up the bit smartly reaching for more ground at the three eighths marker, shifted out in midturn coming up to runners, swooped around horses five wide turning for home, switched leads taking control at the furlong pole and drew off convincingly at the finish line. MISS D'S PRIDE was in the conversation early outside in the four path, took off the embattled pace by the half, edged up behind the front trio with five sixteenths to go, had a chance finding a seam between foes four wide in upper stretch, could not quicken with the winner by mid-stretch but still finished up with purpose to be second best behind the dominant winner. LEMON TWIST argued on the front end inside down the back straight and throughout the turn, still was in the thick of things inside two others in upper stretch, was no match for the overpowering winner a furlong from home and faded in the late going, getting caught for the place share in the end. BOURBONONAHOLIDAY had a stalking trip near the rear, co-trailed with the eventual winner inside at the half, lagged behind the pack in the turn running, closed the gap five wide at the quarter marker, shifted out six wide for the drive to the line but could only pass tired runners down the stretch. MIAH SAID was brushed on the inside at the start, had the three path part of the front end mix along the backside, had a good spot isolated tracking the engaged duo on the turn but emptied out having little left four wide between horses at the top of the stretch. SWIFT ATTRACTION broke out a touch on the start, was under a ride intent for the lead getting a head in front between foes at the half, battled outside up top on the bend, dueled in the three path with challengers on each side at the top of the lane but wilted in deep stretch.
