Footnotes
LA BELLEZA NEGRA prompted the early pace inside the frontrunner leaving the gate, opted to let the speed leader go on with it at the half mile pole, moved well measuring the pacesetter on the turn, began to inch up at the quarter pole, bid three wide on the outside straightening out for home, powered past with a furlong to go and won going away when crossing the finish line. LAST AMERICAN EXIT bobbled slightly on the break, tracked the front pair while outside another at the half, was asked to go after the contesting twosome midway on the turn but made little gain, angled to the four path in upper stretch, kept of trying determinedly to the end and finished up mildly to be a non threatening runner up at the finish line. PAT'S GAMBLE was void of early foot trailing in the early stages, shifted out in midturn starting to come up to rivals, darted back inside foes on the fence with a quarter mile still to run and had a late rally outside, picking up the weary pacesetter for the show award in deep stretch. FIFTY B M G cleared off, outfooting the inside rival to be loose on the lead in hand by the half, slowed the tempo down on the turn but had a diminishing advantage by the quarter pole, was collared outside by the winner offering no resistance in upper stretch, shortened stride by the furlong pole and flattened out on the rail with a sixteenth remaining. COTTON settled inside rivals having the fence in midfield along the back straight, was under a ride but was going in the wrong direction at the five sixteenths pole, drifted out at the quarter marker being passed inside at the top of the lane to be at the back and could not be a factor in the stretch running.
