VELVET RAGE was brushed by the inside runner on the break, recovered to have a neck advantage on the outside down the back straight, battled outside surrendering the front end briefly at the seven sixteenths marker to the inside foe, dueled outside up top well clear of the rest of the group around the bend, re-took the lead edging away at the furlong marker and cleared off for the win when crossing the finish line. MOBULA forced the issue on the fence in the beginning, poked her head in front going into the turn, continued battling for the front end on the rail bobbing heads throughout the turn, dug in stubbornly against the winner until the furlong marker but yielded for the top spot late, still well ahead of rivals for the place share at the finish line. POETIC AMY was unhurried trailing the field on the fence in the early stages, began to make a rally outside going past a rival midway around the oval, angled out having clear run in the four path in upper stretch fighting for a small share and closed in belatedly for the show money but well behind the front duo at the finish line. NIKITA'S GEM broke outwards on the start but was quickly straightened out to settle in midfield with rivals in each side along the back straight, regressed slightly coming under a ride at the five sixteenths pole, resurged finding another gear between horses three wide at the top of the lane and ran on willingly to be a fringe player in the end. ROCKET RILEY travelled three deep in the second flight down the backside, was isolated in third well behind the contesting pair midway through the oval, shifted just off the fence between horses vying for a minor part in upper stretch but lacked a rally in the late going. SIGHT TO SEE had the rail in mid-division in the early stages, was scrubbed on for more trying to hold position saving ground throughout the turn and had little to offer fighting on the fence for a minor role in the final furlong.
