Footnotes
AWE INSPIRED prompted the issue on the outside in the beginning, rated off the front pair on the outside midway down the backstretch, came under a busy ride three wide between horses in midturn but was starting to gain on the contesting lead duo, had a chance in the mix five wide in upper stretch, kept grinding away on the outside through the lane and got up in the shadow of the wire for the gutsy win. DJOSER pressed the early pace on the fence, took back, shifting out to track the frontrunner at the half mile marker, re-engaged for the front end on the outside at the three furlong pole, continued to fight it out around the bend, had the three path still dueling up top at the head of the lane, got its head in front for a moment with a sixteenth to go but could not fend off the late outside charge by the winner nearing the finish line. JAMIESTA tossed its head on the break, lagged well behind down the back straight, trailed around the bend but was narrowing the gap by the quarter pole, swung out widest in the seven path for the drive to the wire and was full of run in the final furlong to be a fast closing third. THREE SONNY SIDEUP settled in mid-division with runners on each side, sat alone unable to make any headway on the dueling foursome midway around the oval, started to reach for more ground in the three path at the top of the stretch and had his best stride late just missing out for the battle for the show award between rivals. CUT'EM LOOSE maintained a slim lead early on, cleared off to be loose on the rail at the half, had company on the outside forcing the pace at the three eighths marker, shifted just outside, two wide clinging onto the front end in upper stretch, surrendered the lead shortening stride staying on the wrong lead at the sixteenth pole and tired in deep stretch, losing a couple of placings late. LONHRO'S GAMBLE had a stalking role on the fence down the backside, saved ground throughout the turn but could not make any progression, angled six wide straightening out for home but could not get involved. SPEAK UP settled in midfield going three deep, offered a brief rally closing in, but was circling four wide in the process, shifted out to the six path at the top of the stretch, could not sustain the rally and folded in the final furlong.
