Footnotes
GILT EDGE had good position isolated in mid-pack along the backside, ranged up looking strong measuring the front duo at the five sixteenths pole, pounced three wide by the quarter marker to loom boldly in the five path at the top of the stretch and prevailed in a good stretch duel in the final furlong to prevail for the hard fought win. SPLIT STRIKE traded brushed with the outside runner to begin, recovered smartly to clear off getting the rail loose up top by the nine sixteenths pole, was well rated nursed along up top while hounded outside at the five sixteenths pole, disposed of the turn challenger when two wide still holding onto the front end in upper stretch, fought on stubbornly to the line but just gave way grudgingly in the shadow of the wire for the win position. WAGNER had a good trip nestled on the rail behind the frontrunner at the half, waited for the cue to move watching the engaged front pair midpoint on the turn, found a seam briefly shifting to the three path at the top of the stretch but then lacked running room behind the leader looking for room at the furlong pole, darted to the in the late going but could not get there in time just being outkicked. YACHT BOY settled near the rear travelling four deep outside of foes, made a brief move circling four wide around horses through the turn, swung out widest for clear run in the seven path straightening out for home but stalled at the furlong pole to settle on the fringes in the end. KEKOA was off a step slow to trail in the beginning, shared the rear outside at the half, closed the gap three wide between foes in midturn with the tempo slowing down, angled to the five path for the drive and ran on mildly with runners on either side in deep stretch. POSEIDON STEEL had an inside stalking role down the back straight, co-trailed on the fence at the half, narrowed the margin when the field bunched up with the pace slowing down through the turn and lacked a rally inside horses in the final furlong unable to factor in the late going. BIG BOLD AND FIRST was brushed inside on the break, tracked the leader outside down the backstretch, moved in early through the turn to force the pace outside at midway marker around the bend, had little to offer being repelled in the mix up top three wide turning for home and wilted between runners at the furlong marker.
