Footnotes
SPEEDY BEAR pressed between horses early on, sat inside another challenger keeping a close eye on the frontrunner at the half, rallied in midturn to poke his head in front between rivals with a quarter mile to run and edged away for the win in the final furlong. HAPPY QUAD shadowed the pace three deep on the break, travelling outside in the second pairing while watching the pacesetter at the half, moved in three wide outside horses through the turn, loomed a menacing presence four wide at the top of the stretch, was inching up late but could just not get to the winner in time. TEMPLE HALL had a slim lead on the rail at the start, opened up at the half, was collared outside by a couple of runners at the quarter pole, dug in on the fence in upper stretch but while not switching leads faded inside at the furlong marker to hold for the show award. BACKONTHECHAINGANG was gathered back under a tight hold after the start to sit in a stalking role three deep alone the backside, made a mild run three wide around foes at the three eighths pole, shifted out five wide for the stretch run but finished up evenly for a minor placing at the wire. SOUPER VINNIE co-trailed on the inside at the half, saved ground but was making little headway around the bend and could not get involved while inside foes down the lane. BENNYS JETS broke inwards and was taken hold off while jostled between foes while trailing at the start, was roused with runners on either side in midturn with little response and came up empty for the stretch drive.
