Footnotes
SECRET THREAT broke a touch slow in the beginning, recovered quickly moving well on the fence to get a head in front under a good hold up top by the five-furlong pole, maintained a slim advantage being nursed along through the turn with a host outside runners coming on by the quarter pole, spurted away when roused having plenty still in reserve in upper stretch and was kept busy late to hold safe for the win. COMMANDER AT SEA was brushed inside on the break, sat alone in midfield by the half, was forced to move holding position three wide at the five sixteenths pole with the outside rival making an early run, battled in the four path in the hunt between foes at the head of the lane and stubbornly fought on until the very end to nab the place share right at the finish line inside. HEAVEN'S CHAMPION stalked initially near the rear on the fence, was checked for a moment down the backstretch at the nine sixteenths marker, made an early move circling strongly four wide around runners in midturn, poked his head in front outside for a stride or two with a quarter mile still to go, angled out to the five path turning for home but could not go with the winner who had plenty more for the drive and got just got caught at the wire by the inside foe for the runners up share. SHORT STORY LONG had a good spot isolated watching the engaged top two runners down the backstretch, drafted right behind the pacesetter on hold at the half, had the rail sitting behind the quartet battling up front at the quarter pole, moved to the two path in the mix for a share at the top of the lane, darted to the rail at the furlong pole but was in tight quarters in deep stretch and settled for a minor role in the end. ARMINO broke out on the start, had no early speed trailing along the back straight, remained at the back of the pack on the bend but did close the gap by the quarter pole, moved out four wide for the drive to the wire and managed to catch a weary foe in the late stages. HAPPY QUAD prompted the pace on the outside, closed in to bid for the lead in the two path with runners on either side midway on the turn, could not continue on with the contesting lead group while three wide in upper stretch and folded by the furlong pole.
