Footnotes
YOSHII had a good spot tucked in on the rail watching the contesting duo along the backside, waited for the cue to go watching the quartet fight it out on the front end at the quarter pole, shifted out to the three path stymied behind the leaders at the top of the lane, moved out to the five path finally getting clear run by the eighth pole and closed with a rush to prove much the best at the finish line. LEAN MUSIC MACHINE was at the rear of the compact group with five furlongs from home, started to uncork a rally in midturn, shifted outside swooping quickly four to six wide at the quarter pole, pounced outside of rivals at the top of the lane to get the outright at the furlong marker but could not fend off the powerful late charge by the winner outside in deep stretch. EGBERT WHO settled between foes in the three path tracking the front pair, dueled three wide with challengers on both sides arguing up top around the bend, had a head in front briefly five wide at the top of the lane but could not match strides with the top two finishers in the final sixteenth to settle for the show money at the wire. RED WEAVER had a tracking position four deep outside of runners, moved in still four wide on the turn to bid up top at the quarter pole, remained in the hunt in the three path between rivals in upper stretch but evened out in the final furlong to settle on the fringes in the end. WILD CARD had the two path outside another watching the engaged pair in the early stages, just started to make a rally when coaxed by the jockey at the quarter pole, had to be checked in tight surroundings losing its path five wide straightening out for home stopping all momentum and could only regroup enough to pass tired foes in the stretch drive. GUS'S DRUMBEET pressed the issue on the rail right from the beginning, remained on the fence fighting on the front end around the turn with three others to its outside, had enough hugging the rail at the top of the lane and tired inside of horses by mid-stretch. CALL ME SUE was very headstrong fighting the rider's restraint while just up front in the early going at the five eighths pole, settled into stride dueling on the lead outside at the half, continued to battle on with runners on either side slugging it out around the bend, had little left for the stretch drive and stopped in the two path turning for home.
