Footnotes
CONN SMYTHE (GB) was on the outside of another well back of the lone speed rival in the early going, was coaxed entering the backstretch to not let the frontrunner get too far ahead going down the backside, closed the gap smartly by the half, sat poised waiting to go around the final bend, pounced outside taking control at the quarter pole and won going away in the final eighth of a mile. BLONDINA'S BOY had an inside tracking role, settled into stride isolated watching the front duo down the back straight, kept pace on the far turn with runners on either side, shifted to the four path in the mix for a piece of the prize in upper stretch, was no match for the dominant winner but did battle on to best the rest, winning the three way photo for the runners up share at the finish line. SOL DE VERANO was unhurried having only a single rival beaten with the field very strung out down the backside, could see the field at the three furlong pole but narrowed the margin, shifted out at the quarter marker coming with a run, gathered speed widest in the six path in mid-stretch and had good late energy to capture third money while just missing outside for the place share at the wire. YOU'RE SO LUCKY saved ground well back on the first turn, lagged at the rear down the backside, began to edge up still taking the short way on the last turn at the three furlong pole, had to wait lacking room stuck behind the tiring early leader with a quarter mile still to go, had a clear path inside at the furlong pole but could only finish up mildly to be a fringe player in the end. MIAH SAID was on a mission, unchallenged well in front of the group heading into the first turn, continued up top along the backside but by a rapidly diminishing margin by the half, slowed the pace down on the last turn clinging onto the lead at the five sixteenths pole, offered no resistance when the winner swept past at the quarter pole, dug in stubbornly in mid-stretch fighting between foes for the place share. LOUIS THE CHAMP travelled three wide around foes in midfield on the initial bend, stalked down the backside ahead of a couple of rivals, offered a brief turn of foot going three wide outside of horses midway on the final bend, could not sustain the run and folded in the five path by mid-stretch.
