Footnotes
WILD RED was content to be well back sitting behind the lone speed in the early stages, started to inch up closer on the fence midway around the oval, shifted out reaching for more ground at the quarter marker, loomed boldly three wide straightening out for the drive, powered past the tiring frontrunner to take command with a sixteenth remaining and held on comfortably for the win at the wire. STRATOSPHERIC stalked ahead of only one runner along the back straight, was urged for more three furlongs out beginning to lengthen stride on the turn, angled out widest in the seven path gathering more speed, closed in steadily outside of horses picking up runners one by one but could not get to the winner in time. TWIST OF SUGAR set a quick pace loose up top down the backstretch, rambled on still unopposed around the bend slowing the tempo down slightly, skimmed the fence at the top of the lane, still was holding on by the furlong marker but was starting to shorten stride, had little left unable to fend off the winner outside at the sixteenth pole and lasted at the wire to be a clear third. CLOSING APPEAL was forwardly placed watching the lead two runners, moved in closer between rivals at the three furlong pole while under a ride, had a chance for a share three wide in upper stretch but finished up one paced to be a fringe player in the end. MIDNITE SADIE veered out sharply on the break, got straightened out to improve three deep along the back straight in mid-pack, tried to keep pace while going three wide outside two others on the turn, shifted to the five path in with a chance for a small share between foes turning for home but flattened out between horses at the eighth pole. GLINT IN AMY'S EYE was unhurried down the backside seeing the group, lagged well behind in the running around the turn, shifted outside to about the four path for the stretch run and had some late interest passing a couple of weary foes outside at the furlong marker. SACRED PRAYER broke a step slow to begin, settled on the rail in mid-division along the backside, was coaxed for more at the three eighths pole but was going in the wrong direction around the oval and failed to menace having the inside lane through the stretch drive. THE SCARLET TIARA travelled between runners in midfield in the early going, stalked close to the rear by the half, made no progression with rivals on either side around the turn and had little to offer faltering in the two path by mid-stretch.
