Footnotes
MAYCOCKS BAY assumed command going under the wire for the very first time, increased the margin steadily through the first bend, was loose up top having a commanding advantage along the back straight, rolled along still unchallenged seeming to bottom out the field around the second turn, remained well ahead of rivals with a sixteenth left to go and prevailed albeit by a quickly diminishing margin at the finish line for the wire to wire tally. STANLEY HOUSE had an inside position behind the pacesetter heading into the initial turn, remained in the second spot content to let the frontrunner who was making his actions clear rambling on down the backstretch, separated from the chasing pack on the last turn while trying to reel in the winner by the quarter pole, shifted to the four path at the head of the lane, drifted out but was whittling away on the leaders advantage at the eighth pole and closed in considerably in deep stretch but could not get there in time. RUNAWAY AGAIN sat all alone in the middle of the pack galloping along, began to inch up lengthening stride, saving all the ground through the far turn, skimmed the rail trying to make a rally down the lane, could not get to the leader who had things well in control by the eighth pole but did fight on well enough to close the gap smartly on the winner at the finish line all the while just missing out on the inside for the battle for the unners up share inside at the wire. SWIFT DELIVERY shared the rear outside his stablemate in the early going, stalked outside another but still was well back at the half mile marker, had little impact going three wide around the final turn, swung out widest gathering momentum in upper stretch and finish with interest outside of horses to win the duel for a minor placing. JOKESTAR had a stalking trip close to the back end, made little headway along the backstretch, was asked for more run at the three eighths marker offering little response through the last bend, shifted to the five path in upper stretch but showed little in the later stages. TOSEN WISH (IRE) co-trailed on the inside into the first of two turns, was relegated to be isolated at the back of the pack with the field very strung out along the backside, took closer order on some rivals taking the short way around the final bend, scraped paint turning for home but made little impression inside of foes in the stretch drive. CHURCH AND STATE travelled in the second flight outside another down the backstretch, was under encouragement retreating between runners on the far turn by the quarter pole, moved to the four oath for the drive to the finish line but folded between horses in mid-stretch.
