Footnotes
POSSIBLEMENTE settled between rivals in the middle of the pack, sat poised behind the engaged trio and between horses in the turn running waiting for the cue to move, had a clear seam in the five path turning for home and found another gear when encouraged right handed leaving the eighth pole and surged in the final seventy yards to edge clear for the win at the finish line. LITHE SPIRIT had a stalking role in the two path along the back straight, narrowed the margin circling foes four wide at the midpoint around the bend, shifted out widest in the seven path having clear run for the stretch drive and had a good late charge against the boys to get up in the shadow of the wire for the runners up share. WESTERN WHIRL was fleet footed having the lead inside a couple of runners down the backside, maintained a slim margin up top while pressed outside around the entire turn, fought on clinging onto the lead just off the rail in upper stretch, was caught by the winner, giving away grudgingly in the final seventy yards and just got nabbed outside at the wire for the runners up share. PLAYMEA TUNE had the rail sitting in midfield, was nudged along midturn holding position on the fence, shifted just off the rail entering the lane and finished up willingly fight on the very end but was on the losing end in a tight three-way picture for the place share. ITS BOURBON THIRTY vied with runners on both sides early on, continued between horses battling up front throughout the turn, angled to the four path in the thick of things still in upper stretch, chased in vain until the sixteenth pole but faded in deep stretch losing a couple of placing very late. G T FIVE HUNDRED prompted the pace three deep along the backside, was reined back slightly at the half, ranged up again going three wide around the bend to force the pace outside at the five sixteenths pole, stalled even though scrubbed for more with rivals closing in on either side at the quarter pole and gave way in the five path by the furlong marker. AWESOME BOURBON was allowed to settle into stride at the back of the pack with a half mile remaining, lagged behind unable to close the gap on rivals through the turn, moved to the three path for the stretch run but offered no finishing kick down the lane.
