Footnotes
PHILLIP MY WINE broke in slightly brushing the inside rival on the start, recovered to press the pace three wide under the wire for the first time, was wisely gathered in moving closer to the fence off the front pair heading into the first bend, tracked the pacesetter who was setting a brisk tempo down the backstretch, began to reel in the leader at the three eighths pole, edged up through the turn measuring the pacesetter, pounced three wide in upper stretch bracing for the battle down the lane, dueled outside holding his ground with the frontrunner fighting gamely to the wire and inched away in the last few jumps for the win. REAL SAVVY had the early lead while well off the rail in the beginning, shook loose while headstrong going around the initial bend, set a lively pace uncontested on the front end down the backside, had a diminishing advantage through the far turn, was collared outside at the top of the lane, battled stubbornly inside the winner to the finish line but drifted out under steady left handed encouragement in the final furlong with the rider standing up just before the wire giving way to the winner in the final few strides. HOLIDAY SNOOZE settled on the fence in the early going in mid-division, was part of the back trio inside of two runners midway down the backside, began to reach for more ground at the half, chased the lead twosome under a vigorous ride throughout the far turn making little gain, shifted two wide at the top of the lane in range of the front pair but could not keep by the furlong pole and ran on nonetheless to be a non-threatening but very clear third at the finish line. PRIVATE LABEL broke outwards exchanging brushes with the rival to his right on the start, gathered himself to be at the back of the pack into the backstretch, shared the rear part of the tail threesome while three deep outside of others at the half, passed a retreating runner while travelling three wide improving position by the three eighths pole, was well back on the top three runners around the last turn and galloped home to settle on the fringes comfortably in the end. THORNBURY was hustled between foes appearing to want the lead under the wire for the first time, conceded trying for the top spot to the frontrunner midway around the first turn, had a tracking role while inside the eventual winner down the back straight, retreated between foes at the seven sixteenths pole, lost touch with the group turning for home and cantered home. RIDERS CLAIM OF FOUL#1 REAL SAVVY AGAINST #6 PHILIP MY WINE IN DEEP STRETCH WAS DISALLOWED
