POWELL RIVER was roused having a narrow lead travelling three wide heading into the first of two turns, crossed over and cleared y the three quarters pole loose up top, galloped along up top with only mild pressure applied outside down the backstretch, was nudged along holding off the outside rival who under a ride through the second turn, spurted away when just tapped right handed a couple of times at the furlong pole and held safe for the wire to wire score. VERY SPECIAL tracked in the second pair while having the outside was asked for more run midway along the final bend beginning to inch up on the lead duo, shifted to the two path in upper stretch and found more late, digging in between horses in the final sixteenth of a mile to win the three-way photo for the place share at the finish line. PROUD PAINTER held the fence running ahead of a couple of rivals in the beginning, made little change staying on the rail along the backside, shifted out at the three furlong pole passing a tiring rival, moved back inside scraping paint at the head of the lane taking closer order and had a rally late to get the right at the wire for the show money. BUIUM stalked near the rear having the outside, rated kindly finding a rhythm down the backstretch, started to uncork a run three wide at the three eighths marker, angled out widest in the five path in the hunt outside the leaders at the top of the stretch but could not sustain the rally and stalled in the final sixteenth losing the three way battle for the place share at the wire. WILLFUL WARRIOR pressed the pace having the inside under the wire for the first time, was reined back to let the pacesetter go ahead with things with three quarters still to run, shadowed the frontrunner outside at the half, dueled outside throughout the final turn going head to head, could not match strides with the winner giving way up top by the furlong pole and faded between foes in the two path in the late going. GELATO was unhurried seeing the field in the early going, showed some energy picking up a weary straggler outside at the quarter pole but could not get involved any further in the drive to the finish line. DWIGHT hopped at the start, was under a snug hold in the second flight inside a rival in the early stages, was encouraged right-handed but was back peddling at the three-furlong pole, stopped at the quarter marker and cantered home down the stretch.
