Footnotes
ZIPPY GAMBLE settled with horses on either side tracking the frontrunner initially, started to pick up the bit three wide between foes on the turn, had a full head of steam bursting through runners at the quarter pole, edged away for a clear advantage in the four path with a furlong to go and under a well-timed stretch move just had enough left late to stave off the outside rival closing in steadily in deep stretch. STERLING HEIGHTS settled on the rail near the rear, looked ready to pounce on the fence waiting behind a wall of rivals in midturn, shifted out at the quarter marker, followed the path of the eventual winner four wide in upper stretch, had clear run and aim angling out in the five path with a furlong to go and was gaining with every stride in the late going but just missed outside at the wire for the win. SPEAK UP advanced three deep along the backstretch to prompt the pacesetter outside by the three furlong pole, dueled between foes two wide with a quarter mile from home, still fought on just off the rail inside rivals with a furlong remaining, stayed on the wrong lead through the drive and was no match for the top two runners late but showed some grit lasting for third at the wire. THATSITTHATSALL hopped slightly trailing after the break, stalked outside of runners with a half mile still to go, made a big swooping move three to four wide around rivals on the turn to be in the conversation up top six wide turning for home, could not sustain the rally by the furlong marker and finished up one paced late settling on the fringes. MAKAYLA broke out on the start but was quickly corrected, had the rail watching the frontrunner down the backstretch, travelled in the two-path keeping a close eye on the lead pair while inside a couple of runners midway around the turn, could not keep up to the now lead foursome at the quarter pole, was stuck on the rail behind the tiring early leader in upper stretch, shifted out three wide for clear run at the eighth pole and finished up gradually with some late interest. POETIC AMY was allowed to settle on the fence at the back of the pack at the half, closed the gap smartly two wide at the midpoint through the turn, swung out widest in the six path for the stretch run in with a chance for a piece of the prize but could not factor in the late running. SIGHT TO SEE cruised to the early lead well in hand leaving the chute, remained up top but by a narrow margin inside at the three eighths pole, had company outside at the quarter pole, could not find more in the stretch run and folded on the fence by mid-stretch. RIDERS CLAIM OF FOUL #3 STERLING HEIGHTHS AGAINST #7 ZIPPY GAMBLE AT THE FURLONG POLE WAS DISALLOWED
