SIL'S GAMBLE settled into a good rhythm in the second pairing inside another in the early going, waited patiently looking for running room behind the engaged duo midway around the turn, shifted out off the tiring early leader turning for home, angled out getting clear run three wide with a furlong from home and powered past to draw away smartly in the last sixteenth of a mile for the win. SPELLCHECK pressed the pace just outside down the back straight, sat off the outside flank of the pacesetter still forcing the issue through the oval, got a head in front at the quarter pole, was still holding up top three wide in upper stretch but had no answer when the winner drove by on the outside at the sixteenth pole and settled for second best on this day. MOMANDA cleared from the outer post crossing over getting to the rail up top down the backstretch, battled inside through the turn, surrendered the front end inside by the quarter pole and ran on mildly on the rail down the lane to hold for the show money at the finish line. ORIENT BEACH was reined back down the backside to sit in the second flight outside in tandem with the eventual winner, closed in three wide with a quarter mile to run posing a threat between runners straightening out for home but could not find another gear late and stalled with her run in the final furlong. DESIGN DIVA galloped along at the rear down the backstretch, continued to see the field in the turn running, started to reach for more ground three wide taking closer order at the quarter marker, swung out widest with the field bunching up at the top of the lane and narrowed the gap on runners in the stretch drive but could not gain any position at the finish line.
