EL KABONG travelled three wide keeping a close eye on the front twosome, narrowed the margin on the duo by the half, made a strong swooping move four wide under a busy ride at the quarter pole, shifted out in the six path gathering more speed at the top of the stretch, stormed past inside horses taking control at the furlong marker and was kept to the task late to hold for the win. C MY MEISTER missed the break slightly at the start seeing the field in the early stages, co-trailed on the inside with a half mile still to run, remained at the rear four wide starting to get into gear at the five sixteenths pole, swung out widest in the six path getting a clear lane straightening out for the drive and flew home in the last furlong to be second best just back of the winner at the finish line. MASON'S GAMBLE stalked close to the back between horses, shared the back end outside another at the half, rallied passing foes three wide midpoint of the far turn, shifted to the five path in upper stretch and with a good late burst in the final furlong closed in smartly but just lost the nod inside at the wire for the runners up share. HEMLO GOLD travelled with runners on either side watching the lead duo, closed the gap on the front pair by the half, rallied three wide making a bid between rivals at the quarter pole, shifted to the five path for the stretch run coming on midway down the lane but faded slightly and was outfinished in deep stretch settling on only a minor share in the end. PALIO settled in the middle of the pack being on the outside, made no movement down the backstretch, rallied just off the fence at the five sixteenths pole, angled to the four-path unable to find a seam in upper stretch, had to be steadied at the furlong pole losing all momentum and could not get back into gear in time to be a factor. GIVEMEMYTHEMEMUSIC had the fence tracking the lead two runners, inched up on the fence around the last bend, was in tight on the rail in upper stretch, finally darted through by the sixteenth pole but was outkicked losing some positions in deep stretch. JIM'S HOPE had the rail position sitting in mid-division, dropped back a touch on the fence at the half mile pole, saved ground making little progression on the final turn and could not get into contention through the stretch drive. SAILOR'S PASSION was part of the back trio while outside going three wide on the first of two turns, had the three path still outside close the rear along the backside, made little headway three wide on the second bend and failed to menace in the five path in the drive to the finish line. RED PHARAOH chased the pace in the first bend, continued to go after the pacesetter down the backside, vied for the lead two wide closing in between runners at the quarter pole but could not find more late and yielded in the three path in the last sixteenth of a mile. PEJA DU was loose on the lead setting a lively early pace, still remained up top on the fence clinging to the lead with a host of outside rivals bearing down at the quarter pole, had little left in the two for the drive in mid-stretch and folded in the final furlong.
