Footnotes
POULIN IN O T moved in to press the frontrunner outside at the half mile marker, slugged it out with the inside pacesetter going head-to-head throughout the turn, never wavered still throwing it down at the furlong pole even though just behind by a head, found another gear late when urged by the rider for more in the final seventy yards to edge clear for a well deserved and fought victory. AWESOME BOURBON lacked early foot seeing the field down the backstretch, lagged behind the pack on the turn, started to get into gear on the fence at the quarter pole, shifted out getting clear run five wide turning for home and was full of run moving the quickest down the lane in the final furlong but just could not get to the wiunner in time at the wire. GO KART MOZART caught a flyer out of the gate angling to the rail trying to slow the pace down coming up to the five eighths pole, was nudged along having a head in front inside at the half mile pole, dueled on the rail setting solid fractions around the turn, fought on tenaciously getting a head advantage again at the furlong pole but could not continue on in deep stretch and faded nearing the wire just lasting for the show money. PAYNES SPIRIT had to be checked, clipping heels with the frontrunner who was slowing the temp down entering the backstretch, tracked the contesting duo at the half, continued to chase the front pair who threw it down around the turn, shifted to the three path for the drive still coming on down the lane with a furlong to go and just missed closing in for the third place share at the finish line. SOUPED UP settled between runners tracking the lead twosome, made no headway three wide between horses around the oval, shifted to the four path in with a chance for a small share at the top of the lane and was gaining mildly in the final sixteenth but others were closing quicker. LIGHT THE LAMP broke outwards brushing the gate, stalked near the rear down the backside, saved ground around the bend, offered a brief spurt cutting the corner closing the gap at the top of the stretch but lacked a rally in the late going inside of rivals. SUMMER COMMANDER settled in midfield while four deep down the backstretch, could not keep up to runners while travelling four wide throughout the turn, angled to the six path in upper stretch but showed little in the drive to the finish line. RIDER'S CLAIM OF FOUL AS WELL AS A STEWARD'S INQUIRY #2 PAYNES SPIRIT AGAINST #7 GO KART MOZART DOWN THE BACKSTRETCH RESULTED IN #7 GO KART MOZART BEING DISQUALIFIED AND PLACED FOURTH FOR INTERFERENECE
