Footnotes
MISS SOOTHSAYER had the three path outside in the fray up top in the beginning, let the inside leader go on with it around the first turn, kept the leader in her sights while tracking down the backside, started to reel in the frontrunner at the three eighths pole quite easily, glided by taking the lead three wide at the quarter pole, opened up a commanding lead in mid-stretch but had to be kept busy in the late going with an outside rivals charging home late and held safe albeit by a dwindling margin at the finish line. LA CULASSE had only one horses beaten on the first turn, made little change down the backside, had to wait lacking running room behind a trio of runners three furlongs out, uncorked a run making a sharp run bursting between rivals at the quarter pole, shifted to the four path full of run but well back of the winner in upper stretch and rushed home gobbling up ground in the final furlong making a horse race late but just came up shy at the finish line. SPA PROSPECTOR pulled the rider between horses very eager under the wire for the first time taking the lead, was on a mission loose up top setting a rapid pace down the backstretch while trying to be throttled down by the jockey but to no avail, had a quickly diminishing lead on the winner by the three furlong pole, surrendered the lead inside even though scrubbed on for more with a quarter mile still to go, had the two path in the stretch run and still manged to finish up well enough to be a clear third at the wire. HAWBERRY travelled between rivals in midfield, dropped back slightly at the half, made a brief rally with a sharp turn of foot three wide at the quarter pole, was well back in the third position off the lead pair in upper stretch and could only run on one paced in the final furlong lasting in the end for a minor placing. BIT OF MUSIC was off a touch slow to be at the rear three wide on the first of two turns, could see the field off the fence down the backstretch, was under a ride three to four wide on the second bend making little progression outside runners, passed a tired foe by the quarter pole but had little impact in the stretch running. DAFINA broke out but quickly corrected by the rider, recovered to be part of the mix inside initially, took back off the front duo soon after the start, settled in midfield on the fence along the back straightaway, was asked for more at the three eighths pole offering no response on the far turn being passed by outside runners by the quarter pole and yielded on the fence in upper stretch. CLEARWATER BEACH travelled three wide sitting in midfield, improved three deep down the backstretch to sit back off the front two runners with a half mile still to run, retreated on the turn three wide between horses at the five sixteenths pole and emptied out by upper stretch.
