Footnotes
JUNIPERO SERRA was allowed to settle at the rear after the gates opened up, galloped along unfazed seeing the field with a circuit to go, remained at the tail end closing the gap with the field bunching up at the half, made a strong move circling around horses three wide on the final turn bidding outside for the lead, was floated out five wide turning for home, tenaciously dug in wearing down the two inside foes in the stretch drive and inched away for the win coning up to the finish line. NO MORE OPTIONS had the lead in the two path in the beginning, travelled smoothly going on the front end under the wire to first time, controlled an honest pace down the backside while shadowed outside, had the rail with a couple of runners bearing down outside midway around the third and final turn, drifted out three wide holding his own inside at the top of the stretch, fought on courageously to the very end but just missed holding on for the frontrunning tally. ENGLISH ACTOR broke outwards at the start, was in tight early on having the rail stumbling clipping heels switching to the outside on the first turn which would be the ten eighths pole in this three turn race, was hard held just outside the leader with one more lap to go under the wire for the first time, continued to hound the pace down the backstretch, was forced to move between rivals with the winner trying to circle three wide at the five sixteenths pole, battled stubbornly between horses in the four path down the entire stretch but was just outkicked by rivals on both sides in deep stretch while easily securing the show money in the end. GRANDSON had the rail watching the engaged duo basically throughout, could not go on with the lead threesome unable to keep up around the final bend taking the shortest path, dueled inside for a piece of the prize down the lane with the front three runners well ahead and settled on the fringes in the end. LEGAL CATCH travelled in the second flight outside another tracking the lead duo, was roused for more unable to keep up to the front trio when the pace picked up at the three-furlong pole, shifted to the three path but could not get involved turning for home and battled outside another but losing their own separate duel for the minors at the finish line.
